Process changelog
Important: This feature is currently in open beta. For more information, see the Nintex Beta terms document. If something is not functioning correctly, please raise this with support@nintex.com
The changelog shows a history of the changes made to a process, including what changed, who changed it, and when it was changed.
Use the changelog to:
-
See how a process has evolved.
-
Check what a teammate changed before you publish.
-
Confirm who published a version.
The changelog panel shows two tabs :
|
Tab |
Description |
|---|---|
| Process changes |
Lists changes to the process as a whole: when the draft was created, when process details such as the title, owner, experts, objective, background, or location were changed, and when a version was published. Note: A published process will only show the Process changes tab. |
| Content changes | Lists edits to the content of the draft you are working on, such as activities, decisions, loops, and parallels, and the tasks, notes, triggers, inputs, outputs, and performance targets inside them. This tab is only available when you have a draft open. |
Entries on both tabs appear with the newest first, grouped under a month heading. Each entry shows the name of the person who made the change and the date and time of the change. If the person's account has since been deleted or deactivated, the entry shows Deleted/Deactivated User.
-
Open a draft process or a published process.
-
In the header, click the triple dot
menu and select View changelog.
The changelog panel display defaults to the Process changes tab. If you have a draft open, select Content changes to see edits to the draft's content.
On the Process changes tab, scroll through the entries. Each entry describes one change, for example:
-
Draft created, when the draft was first saved.
-
Process title updated, Process owner updated, and similar entries for experts, objective, background, and location. These entries show the previous value under From and the new value under To.
-
Process V2.0 published, when a version was published. If the person who published it added a change description, it appears under Description.
To narrow the list by type of change, select an option from the event type list: All events, Created, Metadata changed, or Published.
To see only the changes made by one person, select their name from the users list. Your own name is followed by (Me). Select All users to show everyone again.
If more entries are available, click Load more. When every entry is shown, the message All changes loaded shows.
While you have a draft open, the Process changes tab shows the history of that draft. When you open a published process, it shows the history of the published process, including each version that was published. The two histories are not combined.
Open the changelog panel of a draft process and select the Content changes tab.
Check the current version and its status at the top of the tab, for example Current version: V2.0 with a Draft label.
Read the entries. Each entry names the item that changed, what happened to it, and who did it, for example:
-
Activity 2.0 added or Activity 2.0 removed.
-
Activity 2.0 updated, with the previous value under From and the new value under To.
-
Task added to Activity 2.0, Note removed from Activity 2.0, or Participant(s) added to Activity 2.0.
-
Draft is created with content from Version 3.0 or Draft content is overwritten with content from Version 3.0, when someone restores an earlier version.
For added and removed items, the Description shows the name of the item. If the text is long, click View more to read all of it, and click View less to collapse it again.
To see only one person's changes, select their name from the users list. Select All users to show everyone again.
Click Load more to show the next entries. When every entry is shown, the message All changes loaded appears.
When an activity, decision, loop, or parallel is removed, the changelog shows a single removed entry for it. The tasks, notes, and other items inside it are not listed separately, because removing the parent removes everything it contained.
A loop has no name of its own, so its entries describe where it loops to, for example: Loop back to Activity 2.0.
Issue:
When the changelog shows No changes recorded yet even though changes have been made, a recent change is missing from the list, or the changelog shows Failed to load.
Cause:
The changes have not been saved. The changelog lists changes that were saved with the draft, not changes that are still waiting to be saved.
Resolution:
Close the changelog, click Save Draft in the header, and then open the changelog again. For Content changes, make and save at least one change after the first save of the draft. To verify the issue is resolved, open the changelog and check that your saved change appears at the top of the list under the current month. If the problem continues, contact your Nintex administrator or support and include the process name, the tab you were using, and the exact message shown.
Considerations
-
The process changelog may not be enabled for your workspace. When it is not enabled, the Process changes tab has no entries.
Select All events in the event type list and All users in the users list to clear any filter.
-
If you want to see content changes, open the draft of the process instead of the published process, and then select the Content changes tab.
-
If a Failed to load message shows, click Retry. If the message continues to show, close the changelog, reload the page, and open the changelog again. Confirm that you can open the process.
-
If the Process changes tab is still empty after you have saved changes, ask your Nintex administrator to confirm that the process changelog is enabled for your workspace.
