Manage columns in tables

With the Columns functionality available in tables, you can tailor the table grid to create a more focused view. You can:

  • Hide columns that aren't relevant to your work.

  • Add lookup columns to bring fields from referenced tables directly into the grid.

  • Reorder columns to put the most important information where you need it.

These options let you customise your view without changing the table for anyone else.

Note: Column changes done using the Columns panel aren't saved. The table returns to its original column view when you close it.

Open the Columns panel

  1. Go to Tables.

  2. Open the table you want.

  3. On the toolbar, click Columns.

The Columns panel opens and shows the columns in the table, including columns from referenced tables.

Hide columns

You can hide columns from the table grid without removing the data from the table.

  4. Find the column you want to hide.

  5. Click the next to the column.

Add lookup columns

If your table includes a relationship to another table, you can bring fields from the referenced table directly into your grid using lookup columns. Relationship columns in the Columns panel show the table they reference.

  1. Go to Tables.

  2. Open the table you want.

  3. On the toolbar, click Columns.

  4. Find the relationship column for the table you want to look up.

  5. Select + next to the column to add a new lookup column.

  6. In the Add lookup column panel, review the available columns from the referenced table.

  7. Select the column or columns you want to add.

  8. Click Add.

  9. Click Apply in the Columns panel.

The lookup column is added to the table and displays the selected field from the referenced table.

Lookup columns are visually categorized using a colour to help distinguish fields that come from different referenced tables.

Hover over a lookup column to see where the column comes from.

Reorder columns

You can change the order of columns to put the information you use most frequently within easy reach.

  1. Go to Tables.

  2. Open the table you want.

  3. On the toolbar, click Columns.

  4. Select and hold the column you want to move.

  5. Drag the column to the position where you want it.

  6. Click Apply.

The table updates to reflect the new column order.
