Amazon EC2 instance management

Manages virtual servers in the cloud that were created by the Amazon EC2 web service.

Action settings

Following are the fields and options visible in the configuration settings dialog box for this action.

Section Field Description

(unlabeled)

Instance ID

Specify the ID of an instance to be managed.

 

State

Select one of the following options.

  • Start
  • Stop
  • Reboot
  • Terminate

Access credentials

AWS Access Key ID

The Amazon Web Service (AWS) Access Key ID.

 

AWS Secret Access Key

The Amazon Web Service (AWS) Secret Access Key associated with the provided access key ID.

 

Output

Store output for this action using the following selections.

  • Public DNS: Stores the public DNS of the instance.
  • State change successful: Specify a Yes/No variable that will store whether or not the state change was successful. Returns "Yes" if the instance was changed successfully.

Depending on action requirements, you may be able to add and remove output variables.

To add an output variable

  1. Select an option from the Select more drop-down list.
  2. Click Add to display a drop-down list for the selected option.
  3. Select a previously defined workflow variable from the drop-down list.

To remove an output variable

  • Click Delete ().

    Note: Some output variables cannot be deleted. For example, the output variable URL for the action Bing news search cannot be deleted.
