Open and save workflows

This topic describes how to open and save workflows.

You can open workflows for a given list using the Open Workflow dialog box or the Workflow Gallery page. The Open Workflow dialog box allows you to open earlier versions of workflows in addition to the latest version, which may not be published. The publish status is indicated for the latest version.

You can save workflows at any point in the design process.

When you save a workflow, a minor version is created; when you publish a workflow, a major version is created.

To open a workflow from the Workflow designer

  1. In the ribbon, click Open.

The Open Workflow dialog box appears.

  2. To open the latest version of the workflow, click the desired workflow and then click Select.

The latest version of the workflow opens in the Workflow designer.

  3. To open an earlier version of a workflow, click to the left of the desired workflow title, select the desired version, and then click Select.

Alternatively, you can double-click the version to open it.

The selected version of the workflow opens in the Workflow designer.

Note: If this workflow is then modified and published, a new version will be created and this new version will be the current version that is used when a workflow is started.

To open a workflow from the Workflow Gallery page

  1. On the Workflow Gallery page, select the Nintex Workflow options drop down, and select Site workflows.
  2. On the Workflow Gallery page, click the name of the workflow.

The latest version of the workflow opens in the Workflow designer.
