Preview a form

Preview a form to confirm control appearance and behavior for a given device and mode.

To preview a form's design

1. In the Nintex Forms 2016 tab of the Forms designer, in the Form area, click Preview.
2. Click Device Preview.

   The preview appears.

3. Select the screen size you want to preview using the buttons.

To preview a form at runtime

1. In the Nintex Forms 2016 tab of the Forms designer, in the Form area, click Preview.

   Click Preview .

   The Preview Settings dialog box appears.

2. Select the Mode to preview the form in.

3. Click Generate Preview.

   The preview form is displayed within the Forms designer.

   No data entered in a preview form is saved.  

   Note: To close any notifications that may appear at the top of the preview, select "Close" in the bottom right-hand corner.

To preview a form

1. In the Nintex Forms 2016 tab of the Forms designer, in the Form area, click Preview.

   The Preview Settings dialog box appears.

2. Select the device, platform, and mode.

   For field descriptions, see the table following these steps.

3. Click Generate Preview.

   A preview of the form is generated.

   The location of the preview form depends on the selected device option.

   • For the device option Nintex Mobile App, the preview form is displayed in the app, overwriting any previous version of this preview form; the preview form is accessible by the user who designed the form only. On submission of the preview form, the form is discarded from the forms list in the app. For best practices when previewing forms in Nintex Mobile, see Preview the form.
   • For other device options, the preview form is displayed within the Forms designer.

   No data entered in a preview form is saved, whether in the Forms designer or in a Nintex Mobile app.  

   Note: To close any notifications that may appear at the top of the preview, select "Close" in the bottom right-hand corner.

Preview Settings dialog box field descriptions

Field	Description
Device	The device to assume for the preview of the form. Note: The most appropriate device layout is used for the preview of the selected device. If a layout for the selected device has not yet been created for the form, then the next most appropriate alternate device layout will be used to render the form.
Platform	The platform to use when rendering the preview form. The following options are available. Local (SharePoint framework) Nintex external platform (not applicable for the device option Nintex Mobile App)
Mode	The mode in which to display the form. The following options are available.  New Edit Display Note: Mode is not applicable to the platform option Nintex external platform (preview forms use New mode) or the device option Nintex Mobile App (preview forms use Edit mode).
