Identify controls in use
This topic describes how to identify and copy controls in use.
You can identify controls used in a selected layout or in all layouts defined for the form. You can copy controls from other layouts or from the current layout.
Note: This feature is available in the Classic Forms Designer only.
To display the Controls In Use pane
- Click Controls In Use on the Forms designer ribbon.
To copy a control from another layout
- Click Controls In Use on the Forms designer ribbon to display the Controls In Use pane.

From the drop-down list at the top of the pane, select an option that lists controls not on the current layout; either select the source layout or select a filter.
Controls not on the current layout have a dimmed appearance while controls already on the current layout appear active.

Drag the control onto the current layout.
The tooltip displays "Add to layout." On placement of the control, a linked control is created. For more information on linked controls, see Identify linked controls.
To copy a control already on the current layout
- Click Controls In Use on the Forms designer ribbon to display the Controls In Use pane.

Drag the control onto the current layout.
The tooltip displays "Create a copy of." On placement of the control, a stand-alone copy of the control is created.
