To add a control to the current layout of the form, do one of the following:

  • Right-click the designer canvas, select Insert Control, and then select the desired control.
  • Drag the control from the Form Controls toolbox or the Controls in Use pane to the designer canvas.

During the drag action, a tooltip appears indicating whether the control is linked.

Note: The Add to layout tooltip appears for stand-alone (unlinked) controls. The Create a copy of tooltip appears for linked controls.

Considerations

  • The Insert Control option is only available if the mouse is over an area which is free of other controls.
  • Use the arrow keys to reposition a control once it is on the design canvas.
