Importing and exporting workflows

Nintex workflows can be imported and exported to the local file system as .nwf files. Use this feature to copy workflows from one server to another or in other file transfer scenarios.

Note: External Start endpoint URLs are not included in exported workflows. To use External Start with imported workflows, generate new endpoint URLs after import.

Exporting workflows

You can export Nintex 2013 workflows to .nwf files. Reusable workflows can also be exported to .wsp files for use in Visual Studio.

To export a workflow (.nwf)

  1. Click Export in the ribbon.
The browser determines if the site is trusted and then initiates the file download process.
  2. Respond to prompts from the web browser to download and save the workflow.
Consult the web browser documentation for more information on downloading and saving files.

To export a workflow to a Visual Studio 2012 solution file (.wsp)

  • Click the arrow under Export and then select Export to Visual Studio.
Note: Not all workflow types such as list workflows or site workflows can be exported to Visual Studio. Only Reusable Workflows created in Nintex Workflow 2013 can be exported to Visual Studio 2012.
