Database settings

This help topic provides instructions for administrators to view and configure database settings for Nintex Workflow. It also describes selections on related pages.

​Viewing current database settings​

​This section provides instructions for viewing current database settings. 

To view current database settings:

  1. On the Central Administration Home page, click  Nintex Workflow Management
  2. In the Nintex Workflow Management section, click Database setup
    The Nintex Workflow Database Setup page is displayed. From this page, you can specify the configuration database and map content databases. Instructions are provided in the following sections. 

Adding content databases

This section provides instructions for adding Nintex Workflow content databases. 

To add a Nintex Workflow content database: 
Note: You can also add Nintex Workflow content databases from the Manage Database Settings page. 

  1. Access the Nintex Workflow Database Setup page: On the Central Administration Home page, click Nintex Workflow Management; in the Nintex Workflow Management section, click Database setup. ​
  2. On the Nintex Workflow Database Setup page, under Content Databases, click Add content database.
  3. On the Add content database page, enter the database server, name, and other settings.
  4. If the database already exists, select the check box Connect to an existing database.
  5. Click OK.

Nintex Workflow Database Setup page

This section describes selections on the Nintex Workflow Database Setup page.
Section Selection Description
Configuration Database Create (Available when the configuration database has not yet been defined.) Displays the Add Configuration Database page. See Manage the configuration database.
Configuration Database Edit ​(Available when the configuration database has already been defined.) Displays the Change configuration database page. See Manage the configuration database.​
Content Databases Content Database ​Lists Nintex Workflow content databases.
Content Databases
Connection String ​Lists the connection strings for the Nintex Workflow content databases. 
Content Databases Add content database ​Displays the Add content database page for adding Nintex Workflow content databases. 
Content Databases View database mappings ​Displays the View Database Mappings page that lists the Nintex Workflow content databases mapped to the site collections. 
Content Databases Manage database mappings ​Displays the Manage Database Mappings page for mapping Nintex Workflow content databases to SharePoint content databases.​

Add content database page

This section describes selections on the Add content database page.
Section Selection Description
Database Name and Authentication Database Server Name of the database server containing the new or existing database that you want to use as a content database. 
Default value: 
The name of the default SharePoint database server.
Database Name and Authentication Database Name ​Name of the new or existing database that you want to use as a content database.
Database Name and Authentication Connect to an existing database When selected, uses an existing database. When cleared, creates a new database. 
Database Name and Authentication​ Database authentication Select one of the following options. 
  • Windows Authentication (recommended)
  • SQL Authentication
Failover server Failover Database Server ​​Name of the database server to use for failover. 
Service account access Grant service account access ​When Yes is selected, grants access to all content web application service accounts. When No is selected, web applications do not have access to the content database until access is granted using the Web Application activation page.
