Microsoft Exchange Server

K2 can integrate with Microsoft Exchange Server in a number of different ways:

Integration mechanism	Typical use
SMTP Email	The most common use of Microsoft Exchange by K2 is to send SMTP Emails (e.g. task escalations, workflow Email events, Emails from SmartForm rules).
Workflow Event Wizards	Event wizards are available in the K2 workflow design tools to allow workflows to perform certain operations in Exchange, for example: Create Meeting Request Create Task Create Mailbox Disable Mailbox
SmartObjects	The Exchange Administration, Exchange Management and Exchange Metadata Service Brokers are used by K2 to expose Exchange Server functionality as SmartObjects. These SmartObjects can in turn be consumed by SmartForms, workflows, reports and other SmartObject consumers. Below are some of the functions exposed by these SmartObjects: Get available Exchange services Get available storage groups Get available mailbox databases Exchange Metadata discovery Create New Meeting/Appointment/Task Get Time Suggestions Enable/Disable Mailbox. There are no specific installation steps required to install this Service Broker, it is included and available by default in a K2 environment.
