K2 Designer for SharePoint - InfoPath Integration

The K2 Designer for SharePoint using InfoPath gives business users the capability to design straight forward business applications from within the familiar surrounds of the Microsoft Office SharePoint and InfoPath environment. The K2 Designer for SharePoint allows business users to visually model, build and deploy dynamic InfoPath Workflows.

It provides a visual design approach without the need for additional desktop applications. Combined with easy-to-use interface features such as drag-and-drop wizards, the K2 Designer for SharePoint experience is tailor made for non-technical users to rapidly develop and deploy dynamic business applications.

InfoPath Integration benefits

Forms Technology

InfoPath Integration is only accessible in a Microsoft Office SharePoint Forms library

After designing a form template, it must be saved and published.

When designing an InfoPath Form for the K2 Designer for SharePoint, keep in mind that a separate action control for each client step in the Workflow is required. This is the control that will be used to populate the task actions for each client step. The reason for this is that InfoPath keeps the previous value saved on a control. For example, the first client step consists out of two actions. If the same action control is reused and the client step with the Closed action is reached, the action control will be populated with Approved, the previously selected action, and then closed. This is standard InfoPath behavior. If  Approved is selected again the page will display an error as the approved action does not exist as an action on this client step.

When using K2 Designer for SharePoint to design InfoPath integrated forms, the forms are published to a Forms Library within SharePoint which is then accessed within SharePoint.

Data Source

When experiencing problems publishing an InfoPath form, and receiving a Data Source error, ensure that the System Events Notification in Administrative Tools under Services is stopped

A data connection is a dynamic link between a Microsoft Office InfoPath form and an external data source that stores or provides data for that form. A data source is a collection of fields and groups that define and store the data for a form. Controls are bound to fields and groups in the data source and display the data to users. A form can have one primary data connection, called the main data connection, and it can optionally have one or more secondary data connections. Depending on the goals for the form, a data connection might query or submit form data to an external data source, such as a Microsoft SQL Server database or a Web service.
