K2 BLACKPEARL PRODUCT DOCUMENTATION: USER GUIDE
Instantiation, Association and Task Forms

Instantiation, Association and Task Forms

The basic process used in SharePoint to enable and use workflows is as follows:

  1. An administrator associates a workflow with a list, library or content type
  2. A user initiates an instance of the workflow with a document or list item
  3. Workflow participants interact with the workflow through the various tasks that the workflow generates

To perform these three functions, three forms are used.  They are:

K2 blackpearl Forms Technology Forms
Association Form: This is the form that is used to associate the workflow with a library, list or content type.
Instantiation Form: This is the form that is used to instantiate an instance of the workflow.  The instantiation form starts the workflow, provides a means of adding comments and surfaces and sets XML Fields and DataFields.
Task Form This is the task form that opens in the SharePoint Task List for the destination user.  The Task Form loads information from the instantiation and association forms.  The Task Form actions worklist items.

The SharePoint Workflow Integration Process wizard sets up the Association and Instantiation forms, while the SharePoint Workflow Integration Client wizard sets up the Task Form.  To enable SharePoint Integration with the workflow all three these forms needs to be created regardless of whether the workflow is designed in K2 blackpearl to be started manually or automatically.
