Exchange Server Configuration
If the environment in which K2 is being installed utilizes Microsoft Exchange as the default mail application the K2 Setup Manager will automatically detect the server settings from the Microsoft Exchange Management Tools SP2 and will pre-populate the screen below.
If Microsoft Exchange Management Tools SP2 are not installed in the environment this screen will not be displayed during the installation process.
The Exchange Server Settings screen will ensure that the following occurs :
- Creation of two Exchange Server Services using the default values and will then be visible in Management Console where the values can also be changed if required:

- The Exchange Server Service Instance which is an internal service and will be used the Exchange Wizard. This service executes calls using the specific users credentials.
- The Exchange MetaData Service Instance will be used by the SmartObjects and the K2 Designer for SharePoint. This Service executes under of the K2 Server Service account. The authentication method can be changed in the K2 Management Console however, Kerberos configuration might be required.
- The Environment Library entry for the Exchange Server will be created.
Ensure that the Microsoft Exchange Server Service is started for the automatic detection of the information on this screen. Exchange integration in K2, such as the Exchange Event Wizard that allows for the creation of mailboxes, is dependent on the information entered on this screen.

If the Exchange Server Settings screen is left blank during installation it can be configured at a later time by running the Reconfigure option in the K2 Setup Manager. |
This screen is optional and does not need to be completed for the installation to complete.
