Start Rule
What does it do?
The Start Rule determines when the activity is started.
How is it used?
The Start Rule is used to configure the start rules to use with the workflow. The Start Rule can be used to add a time factor to the planning of an Activity. The Start Rule can be used in two ways-to delay the start of an Activity or to schedule the start of an Activity for a specific day.
The Start Rule only evaluates when the Preceding Rule evaluates to True.

The Start Rule offers the following functions:
- Start immediately, or
- Delays the start of an activity by scheduling the start for a specified time

Access the Start Rule by opening the activity strip and selecting the Start Rule icon.
Alternatively double click the icon of the activity or right-click the activity and select Properties from the menu.

Select the Start Rule icon on the left. Click Add to configure a Start Rule.

Hours |
The number of hours in which the activity will be started. If you type 2 for example, the activity starts after 2 hours. | Select Start and specify the number of hours by typing the value or drag and drop fields from the Object Browser on the right |
Minutes |
The number of minutes in which the activity will be started. If you type 2 for example, the activity starts after 2 minutes. | Select Start and specify the number of minutes by typing the value or drag and drop fields from the Object Browser on the right |
Seconds | The number of seconds in which the activity will be started. If you type 2 for example, the activity starts after 2 seconds. | Select Start and specify the number of seconds by typing the value or drag and drop fields from the Object Browser on the right |
Date | The specific date the activity will be started. If you specified the days, hours, minutes and seconds as well, these will be used in addition to the specified date. When typing the specific date, the format used should conform to that of the machine's Regional Settings. | Type the specific date format or drag and drop fields from the Object Browser on the right |

Zone | Zones are configured from K2 Workspace and surface in the object browser that is accessible by clicking on the browse button. This field lists the time zone used when the default zone is not applied. |
To enable the Zone field, uncheck the Use default working hours during execution check box. Select the zone from the Context Browser. |
