Log to instance details

Use the Log to instance detailsaction A tool for building the processes, logic, and direction within workflows. Actions are the steps the workflow performs to complete a process. to log a message to the Instance details page.

The Log to instance details action is useful to test the accuracy of the variable values throughout your workflow.

For example, the Calculate a value action stores a calculation result value as a variable in your workflow. Before you publish your workflow to production, you want to check the action calculation is accurate. You add the variable to the action Message and run the workflow or workflow using a development user.

When you check the instance of the workflow, you can see the calculation variable value logged correctly in the instance activity.

Configure the Log to instance details action

  1. Open the designer canvas, add the action to the designer canvas, and open the action configuration panel. For more information, see Designer canvas.

  2. In the Message field, type text and add variables.
