Insufficient privileges

Issue

You run a DocGen Package and see this message:

Insufficient Privileges: Missing access to 'LoopSettings__c'

Cause

This error may occur when non-admin customers run a Document Package that is configured to attach back to Salesforce. The error is linked to the Salesforce critical update "Require Customize Application permission for direct read access to custom metadata types," implemented in their summer 2019 release.

Resolution

To resolve this error, try the below options:

  • Deactivate the Salesforce critical update "Require Customize Application permission for direct read access to custom metadata types" until a solution is established.

  • The Salesforce winter 2020 release introduced a new permission named "View all Custom Settings." This permission has been incorporated into bundled DocGen permission sets. Upgrading DocGen will automatically address the issue when the critical update is enabled.

  • The "View all Custom Settings" permission can be manually added to existing Permission Sets or Profiles. This approach eliminates the need for an upgrade while still allowing the critical update to remain enabled.
