No templates to process

Issue

You run a DocGen Package and see this message:

An error has occurred. There may be a problem with your permissions or the Document Package setup, or no documents were included. (MetadataInvalid)

Cause

You could get this message if you used advanced optional documents in your DocGen Package, and then none of the conditions you set for including a template were met.

Resolution

Troubleshoot the template options (gear icon) for all templates in the DocGen Package. Examine the record you're using to generate document and the criteria for dynamical including templates. Define conditions that will allow the record to evaluate to true for at least one template.

To troubleshoot template options

  1. Navigate to the App Launcher by selecting the app launcher in the upper left corner, select Nintex DocGen.
  2. Select the DocGen Packages tab.
  1. Open the DocGen Package that generated the error.
  2. In Select Files, click Options (Gear Icon) and evaluate the advanced criteria.
  3. The criteria specifies which templates to use to process output documents. However, the record that is producing this error does not satisfy the criteria for any templates. Change the criteria on at least one of the templates so that the record evaluates to true.

For more information, see Manage templates in DocGen Packages.

  1. Click Save.

Tip: An easy way to test if the advanced options for templates are causing problems is to make one of the templates in the package required, and then generate documents again, using the record that generated the error. If you don't get the error, then the options for templates are likely the problem.
