Org Chart Replication

You can use Nintex DocGen to generate org charts in your documents based on the hierarchy for the records Salesforce says, "A single instance of a Salesforce object. For example, “John Jones” might be the name of a contact record.". In order to create an org chart, you need to have a list of child A relationship between two objects established by a lookup or a master-detail field. records related to the DocGen Package A customizable package that consists of your Salesforce data, documents, and delivery configurations for documents you want to generate. you are using.

For example, you might want to create an org chart for the contacts and who they report to related to the Acme Co. Account.

Create an org chart using Microsoft Word

  1. Navigate to the App Launcher by selecting the app launcher in the upper left corner, select Nintex DocGen.
  2. Select the DocGen Packages tab.
  1. Open the DocGen Package you want to work with.
  2. Confirm there is a child relationship and a Repeat By option of Hierarchy like the image below.
  3. Once you have confirmed there is a relationship between your objects, open up the Field Tagger in the top right corner.
  4. In the Document Type field, select Word/PowerPoint.
  5. Insert the tags you want to use for the org chart. Simply copy and paste or drag and drop the tags into your document.
  6. Locate the child object's Replicate Row tag.
  7. Below is the tagged document we will use for our org chart example. When we run the DocGen Package, you should receive an org chart with the contacts associated with the record.
  8. Upload or replace the Word document to your Salesforce files. For more information, see Manage templates in DocGen Packages.
  9. Below is the output. The organizational chart was inserted into the Microsoft Word document for each contact record related to Acme Co. This chart is identical to the org chart that is in Salesforce.

Create an org chart using Microsoft PowerPoint

  1. Navigate to the App Launcher by selecting the app launcher in the upper left corner, select Nintex DocGen.

Create an org chart using PDF

Use PDF to create an org chart by preparing and tagging your PDF document with tags A prefilled word block that DocGen selects for fields in your DocGen Package. The tag is a placeholder for the value being retrieved from Salesforce and it gets replaced with the relevant information when the document is generated. from the field tagger A tool that displays tags for your template based on the object you're working with and easily inserts the field tags into your templates for your DocGen Package..

Note: Nintex DocGen has the ability to convert documents into PDF. You're not required to tag your documents in PDF to generate a PDF document.

  1. Navigate to the App Launcher by selecting the app launcher in the upper left corner, select Nintex DocGen.
  2. Select the DocGen Packages tab.

  7. You'll need to edit your PDF fields prior to placing tags in your PDF documents.

  1. Open the PDF document.
  2. Click Tools in the upper left corner.
  3. In the Forms & Signature category, select Prepare Form.
  4. The PDF will highlight the fields in blue boxes.

  5. Select a field, right-click, and then click Properties. This will initiate the Text Field Properties menu.
  6. Under the General tab, enter in the Replicate Row tag into the Name and Tooltip field, along with any other tags you want data for.
    • For our example, we used the tags Contact_Name, Contact_Email, and Contact_Phone.
  7. The tagged document below is what we'll use for our org chart example. When we run the DocGen Package, you should receive an org chart with the contacts associated with the record.
  8. Click Close.
  9. Upload or replace the PowerPoint document to your Salesforce files. For more information, see Manage templates in DocGen Packages.

  10. The output document is below. The organizational chart was inserted into the PDF document for each contact record related to Acme Co. This chart is identical to the org chart that is in Salesforce.
