Microsoft Azure state management

Note: 

Manage the state of a virtual machine in Microsoft Azure. Use this action to either start, restart, shut down or delete a virtual machine.

Note: Microsoft Azure actions are supported for use only with the Azure Classic Portal (manage.windowsazure.com)

Action settings

Do one of the following to open the Action configuration window:

  • Double-click the action.
  • Click on the action and then click Configure.

Field Description
Certificate

Specify the certificate file (.pfx) to be used for authenticating the service request. This certificate must be associated with the Microsoft Azure subscription.

  • Existing SharePoint Content: Enter the URL of the certificate within the current site.
  • Content: This is currently not supported.
  • Current item: Upload the current certificate that the workflow is running on. This option is only available on document libraries.
Certificate password

Specify the password for the certificate.

Subscription ID

Specify the subscription ID associated with the certificate.

Virtual machine name

Specify the name of the virtual machine to manage.

State

Specify a state to change the virtual machine:

  • Start: Starts the virtual machine.
  • Restart: Restarts the virtual machine.
  • Shut down (Stopped): Shuts down the virtual machine but retains the compute resources. User will continue to be billed for the resources that the stopped virtual machine uses.
  • Shut down (Stopped deallocated): Shuts down the virtual machine and releases the compute resources. User are not billed for the compute resources that this virtual machine uses.
  • Delete: Deletes the virtual machine.
