1. Create a View
2. Drag the File Attachment onto the canvas. The control can be found in the Attachment section of the Controls found in the View Designer, see the Properties section below
3. Configure the properties as required
4. Run the View

1. By default, users will not be able to upload or download files with the file attachment control when using a Form configured for Anonymous Access. A configuration setting is available if you do want to allow users to upload and download files using an Anonymous Access Form.
   You should carefully consider and evaluate the impact of allowing file uploads and downloads with Anonymous Access Forms, since doing so may be considered a security vulnerability. User Credentials and Authentication are not required for Anonymous Access Forms and therefore any files uploaded or downloaded with such Forms could be performed by anyone that can access the Form, without having to provide credentials first.
   The setting to allow file uploads and downloads on Anonymous Access Forms can be added to the web.config files for the SmartForms websites, located at the following directories respectively:
   [Install Directory]\K2 blackpearl\K2 smartforms Designer
   [Install Directory]\K2 blackpearl\K2 smartforms Runtime
   
   Add the following setting to the <appSettings> section of the configuration files listed above:
   <add key="Forms.Controls.File.AllowAnonymousAccess" value="true" />
   
   The value should be set to true to allow the attachment control to function correctly when accessed through Anonymous Access Forms. If this setting is not added or set to false, the attachment control will not function correctly on Anonymous Access Forms: errors may occur when uploading or downloading files and image thumbnails may not display. Note that this setting applies to the site as a whole and will apply to all Anonymous Access Forms; it is not possible to configure security for the File attachment control for individual Anonymous Access Forms.

3. The File Attachment control does not allow uploading of certain types of files, including but not limited to:
   • .cpl
   • .vxd
   • .cmd
   • .pif
   • .com
   • .msi
   • .scr
   • .ps
   • .wsh
   • .ocx
   • .dll
   • .bat
   • .exe
   • .vbs
   • .vbe
   • .vb
   • .aspx
   • .vbscript
   • .vscript
   • .javascript
   • .jscript
   • .js

4. The maximum File and Image size that can be attached with the File/Image attachment control is dictated by the following setting in the web.config file in the system.web section.

   <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="16384" />

   When creating a Form that consists of many Views and multiple States the Form rules might not be visible after adding an additional State. This occurs when the Form definition increases and exceeds the "Maximum Request Length" specified in the web.config. The maxRequestLength can be edited to enlarge the size of the Form definition.
   The web.config file can be found in the following location:
   C:\Program Files (x86)\K2 blackpearl\K2 smartforms Designer
   The default maximum value is set as 16384 KB (kilobyte) which is an integer value and can be changed to the required value in KB.

The Check Box control is available in the Attachment section of the Controls found in the View Designer and Form Designer.
