Scenario 2 : Running a K2 Standby Server within the same environment
Scenario 2 describes a method of redundancy in which a secondary backup system located within the same environment is called upon in the event of the primary system failing.
Recommended Procedure:
- Create a 2 node farm for the K2 Server in which Node 1 has the active license and Node 2 is the standby server.
- Once the farm has been setup, turn off Node 2 (standby node) in order to adhere to the K2 licensing terms.
- Plan for failover by using load balancing technology or another approach involving a technology that supports TCP heartbeat checking. See Setting up NLB
- In the event of Node 1 failing, launch the K2 blackpearl Server service on Node 2 (standby server) and redirect all traffic to second node.
- Once Node 1 (primary server) has been restored, the K2 blackpearl Server service on Node 2 (standby server) must be shutdown.
